Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup split green gram moong dal, rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro chopped

Cooking Instructions
 

  1. Place rinsed green gram and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes until tender.
  3. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. Add onion and cook until softened.
  5. Stir in garlic, cumin, and turmeric and cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Add the sautéed mixture to the pot and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper.
  8. Remove from heat and sprinkle with cilantro before serving.
