  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • ½ head green or red cabbage thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • ¼ cup vegetable broth or water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaves
  • ½ tsp caraway seeds Optional
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika Optional
  • 1 small apple thinly sliced ,Optional

Cooking Instructions
 

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a wide pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and cook for 5-6 minutes until soft and lightly golden.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in sliced cabbage and toss to coat with oil.
  5. Pour in vegetable broth add bay leaves and season with salt and black pepper.
  6. Cover and reduce heat to low.
  7. Braise for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and lightly caramelized.
  8. Stir in apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
