Cooking Instructions
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and a pinch of salt. Cook 5–6 minutes until soft.
  3. Add carrot (if using) and cook 3–4 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  5. Add black beans, broth, and cumin.
  6. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat.
  7. Simmer 25–30 minutes, allowing flavors to blend.
  8. Blend part or all of the soup for a creamier texture, or mash lightly with a spoon.
  9. Season with salt and pepper.
  10. Finish with lime juice or herbs if desired.
  11. Serve warm.
